Sumitomo’s energy efficient Hyponic Gearmotor
Frost & Sullivan’s 2009 Green Excellence through Product Value of the Year is presented to Sumitomo Drive for its Hyponic Gear Technology. This award is due to the unique gear design that transmits torque efficiently and delivers the industry leading energy efficiency across its entire range of gear ratios.
Hypoid Gear Technology is more efficient than worm gear technology. Sumitomo’s Hyponic gearboxes use patented lead the industry in high-efficiency and quiet operation. All-steel hypoid gears transmit torque more efficiently, ensure long service life and deliver efficiencies of 80-85% across ratios from 30:1 to 1440:1.
