ABB supplies gearmotors for compressor
ABB will provide electrical equipment including drive systems for the Kauther Depletion Compressor Project, for Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). The Kauther gas field depletion compressor project will extract the remaining natural gas from a number of existing wells. It is situated on the northern edge of the major central Oman gas fields.
This project, awarded by GE Oil and Gas, includes the delivery of 2 variable speed drive systems with a 17MW, 1500rpm synchronous motor for the compressor application.
According to ABB, the Group will also provide related engineering services, including a network study to ensure the optimal performance of the installed system. The project is scheduled to be completed in the last quarter of the 2010.
