Bonfiglioli gearboxes for single screw extruders
The italian company developed the HDPE gearboxes series for single screw extruder drive generated from the renown heavy duty series HDP, with which it shares most of the component parts and gearing.
Mounted forward to the robust nmodular cast iron case, and housed into a strong extruder support, HDPE units feature a heavy duty spherical roller thrust bearing of series 294…E. The particular construction guarantees a common lubrication for the gearbox rotating parts as well as the extruder support.
Due to extreme modularity, each of the HDPE frame sizes allows the selection of the most suitable bearing to win the axial forces generated by the extruder screw, resulting into both a technically optimized and a price effective drive unit.
Ratings and main assembly dimensions are listed in the HDP sales catalogue. Kindly note that, when sizing a gearbox for extruder duty, the application of a minimum service factor fs = 1.5 is strongly recommended.
